Kate Lee – Chair of Governors

Term of Office: 20/06/18 – 19/06/22

Declarations of Interest: Son a teacher at Grosvenor Park Academy, Chester and daughter-in law a student teacher on placement at Rivacre Valley Primary School, Ellesmere Port

Governance Areas of Responsibility: SEND Governor and Strategy and School Development Governor

I volunteered to become a governor after retiring as a Headteacher and wanting to give back to education, as well as to continue to use my skills and expertise, gathered over many years.

The school where I was Head was a two-form entry school with 440 children from reception to Year 6, plus a 100 on roll in the nursey, with 75 children attending, in different groups, each morning or afternoon. It also had a Hearing Support Base to educate up to ten deaf children who were fully integrated into the school. Over the years I undertook school improvement work in other schools and was an Inspector for Ofsted.

I now spend my time with my grandchildren, enjoy walking with friends, reading, go to Pilates and Yoga and am a member of the Rotary Club.

Governance Areas of Responsibility: Health and Safety Governor

I have been a parent governor since 2017 and now have two children who attend Boughton Heath Academy.  My day job is as a lecturer in mechanical engineering at The Open University and I find my experience through my work in laboratory safety useful for my link governor role of health and safety. I wanted to become a governor because I wanted to take an active role in supporting the school and so I hoped my skills with data would be useful to the board. Outside of parenting, academia and being a governor at Boughton Heath I am a keen cyclist and bass trombonist.

Governance Areas of Responsibility – Pupil Premium and Looked After Children Governor

As a parent of a child within the school I am keen to help maintain a rich and creative environment for all children at Boughton Heath to learn and succeed.

I have twenty years of experience within the formal education sector as an artist, teacher, creative facilitator, educationalist and manager. Currently I am employed as Learning Manager at the Whitworth, University of Manchester. I care deeply about how arts and culture can support lifelong literacy and how creativity can be used as a tool to inform learning across all curriculum areas.
In my role as governor, I aim to bring critique, ideas and a creative mind-set to problem solving.

Robert Herd – Co-opted Governor

Term of Office: 16.01.19 – 15.01.23

Declarations of Interest: Head of Languages at Christleton High School

Governance Areas of Responsibility: Training Governor and Curriculum Governor

I decided to become a governor at Boughton Heath because I feel it is really important to invest time in our local community. The young people who come through Boughton Heath Academy will be the custodians of Boughton for future generations. Being on the governing body at BHA means that we can be part of our future citizen's start, putting children on a socially conscious path so that they can enjoy their future and make good decisions here in Chester or wherever they choose to live. I am a Head of Department at a local secondary school, having previously taught in St Helens and Runcorn. I am a passionate linguist, a committed gym-goer and avid cinephile. I live in Great Boughton with my partner and my Welsh Springer Spaniel, Tegan.

Victoria Roper – Co-opted Governor

Term of Office: 20.01.21 – 19.01.25

Declarations of Interest: None

I have always been passionate about education and truly believe that giving children the right start in life should be at the forefront of everybody's minds. Having been fortunate enough to have a fulfilling career with Deloitte working all around the world, I want to help as much as I can so that children from any background have access to the opportunities that they deserve. I also feel that my combination of wanting to make a difference and give back to the community combined with the business skills that I have both from a Finance and Stakeholder management perspective will hopefully help a local school
